WTF? Kung Fu Panda 6 planned, How to Train Your Dragon 8, too
DreamWorks Studios’ Animation Chief Jeffrey Katzenberg confirms to Empire that the studio has their future lined-up for $. Critically, financially, and fan-loved hit Kung Fu Panda and How to Train Your Dragon seems now to be a blip on their radar. “What our movies and our franchises also share in common with Shrek is that they have a beginning, a middle and an end; they’re not open-ended. Each of the films is a chapter of a story and in every instance we knew what that journey was or could be before we even started.”
I hate to be a downer of anything good, but really? Six more Kung Fu Pandas and possibly seven more How to Train Your Dragons? “‘Kung Fu Panda’ actually has six chapters to it, and we’ve mapped that out over the years. ‘How to Train Your Dragon’ is at least three: maybe more, but we know there are a least three chapters to that story. There are actually eight books.” I love animation, but they seem to be bleeding their two best properties dry. Do they buck that trend like Pixar’s Toy Story sequels?
A Kung Fu Panda 6 will be released in 2023. Or, I’ll be too old to care by then. Thoughts?

I could understand a trilogy of ‘Kung Fu Panda’, but a saga? No way. I’m not even keen on seeing the second film, let alone a third.
