Writers to adapt AKA Jessica Jones TV series

DC and Marvel continue to compete to adapt their comic book properties. They’re already competing to create feature films on many of their characters, and they will also be taking that rivalry to the small screen. DC is already planning to bring Raven (here) and possibly Wonder Woman (here) to television. Marvel is currently working on a new series for Hulk (here), and writers have been hired for another one of Marvel’s characters, Jessica Jones.

According to Super Hero Hype, Melissa Rosenberg (The Twilight series) has been hired to adapt AKA Jessica Jones for ABC Family. The show is hoped to air Fall of 2011. Jessica Jones was originally a fellow classmate of Peter Parker/Spider-man, and was exposed to experimental chemicals when her family car crashed into an Army truck. Jones was given the abilities of superhuman strength, flight, and impervious to injury. There’s no word on casting just yet, but we should be hearing something soon.
