Worthington takes on Quartermain

Clash of the Titans and Avatar star Sam Worthington latches onto the lead role in DreamWorks’ Quartermain. The science fiction film is based off the novels “King’s Solomon’s Mines” and “Allan Quartermain”, written by H. Rider Haggard. DreamWorks’ version is set in a time in which humans have left Earth and sees Quatermain return to the planet from a sojourn in space, embarking on another “King Solomon’s Mines”-style adventure but on a planetwide scale (Heat Vision Blog).

One of the versions of the Quartermain script was penned by Mark Verheiden with Miles Millar and Alfred Gough producing. No word yet on who will direct the project or when the start date for filming will be. Worthington is currently in the middle of filming his role as Jake Sounder in the Ami Canaan Mann directed feature The Fields, set for release sometime in 2011.
