Will Sony offer another serving of Salt?
If you’ve seen Salt, then you know a sequel isn’t totally out of the question. Talk about a potential sequel has been going since before the film’s release, but the filmmakers were waiting to see how it performed at the box-office first. However, the writers already have an idea on where to take the sequel.
According to The LA Times, writer Kurt Wimmer has an idea on where he’d like to take the story if a sequel is green-lit. Director Phillip Noyce has expressed interest in returning, but would need to workout his schedule. While he’s not line-up to direct another film yet, but is attached to several other high-priority projects in development.
Angelina Jolie is also interested in reprising her role as Evelyn Salt, but is also attached to Tim Burton’s Maleficent. It remains unknown if producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura will return and produce a sequel. However, the main issue is with the studio. Sony is wanting to see how the film performance overseas to wait and green-light the sequel.
