Will Forte Confirms “MacGruber” Movie

Last night on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon, Will Forte confirmed that there will be a MacGruber movie. According to Forte, the script is finished and they will be filming in Albuquerque, New Mexico. So far the only people confirmed to star are Forte himself, along with Kirsten Wiig.

How this will translate on the big screen remains to be seen. If you have ever caught MacGruber on SNL, then you know that they are short clips and he usually dies fast. Plus, a lot of them are not that funny. Unless they make it a really good spoof of MacGuyver, I see this movie sucking the big one. Does anyone else miss the days of awesome SNL skits? Lately they haven’t been doing that great and if they can’t get a small skit to be funny, how are they going to make a whole movie out of one?

I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.

  1. Well, while I don’t belong to the people who think that SNL isn’t funny anymore, I do think that MacGruber is maybe the most useless SNL character ever. Not just because his skits are seriously lame, but also because MacGyver jokes are SO 90′s. Seriously, this is without a doubt one movie that I’m not waiting for.

I agree. I’m not a big fan of the MacGruber skits, either. I see this movie tanking BIG TIME.

Btw, MacGuyver jokes are very 90′s, but so is Wayne’s World and that remains a classic.

Yeah, but Wayne’s World wasn’t a parody of a TV show that was cancelled almost 20 years earlier. There is a reason why comedians all over the world stopped making MacGyver jokes around 1998. All of them had been told by then. And even The Simpsons only did it again, because they finally got Richard Dean Anderson as guest star.
