Will Cate Blanchet play Clarice Starling?? **updated**
While I do prefer to steer away from rumours or non confirmed news, I figure this little tid bit may bring up a good discussion as news comes today that Oscar nominated director Ridley Scott is in talks to return to the Silence of the Lambs franchise with Anthony Hopkins to star as Lecter once again. Â Keep in mind this is extremely early word and should be taken with a grain of salt, but aside from the franchise’s resurrection, ContactMusic is reporting that Oscar winner Cate Blanchett is in talks to take over the Clarice Starling role first bought to the screen by Jodie Foster and Julianne Moore. Â If this news does in fact happen do you think Blanchett would be a good replacement?
*****UPDATE****** It appears the folks over at contactmusic pooled a fast one over everyone and actually made up this news story and just reprinted an old story that they found on Google. Â Moviehole were the first to pick up the fabricated story. Â So the news was true but was more so true when it first appeared a few years back but never came to fruition.

As a huge fan of Blanchett’s I have no doubt that she could handle this type of role, just watch Heaven.
But do I want her doing this type of role? No.
Anyhow, this is an old article with today’s date. Why this has floated back to the surface is beyond me. Blanchett was considered when Foster walked but they went with Julianne Moore; which in fact was a great decision.
