White writes up Santa Wars

Submitted by Melissa Molina on November 20, 2009 – 11:25 amNo Comment

mike_white_amazing_raceMike White is signed on to write the script for the upcoming Paramount Pictures comedy Santa Wars. White’s previous works include writing and directing the Molly Shannon starring dramedy Year of the Dog and writing up The School of Rock. White is not only a writer on this project but also a producer under his company Rip Cord Productions with Scott Rudin. Here’s more from Variety on the some what interesting story plot:

The genesis of “Santa Wars” was a segment on Ira Glass’ public radio show “This American Life” written by Joshuah Bearman that aired last December.
Segment revolved around the battles that erupted after two men who made seasonal livings dressing up as Santas formed a union, the Amalgamated Order of Real Bearded Santas, but then became bitter rivals.
This plot can go either way when it comes to the delivery and how White decides to go with it. For all we know, this could turn into another Christmas with the Kranks or Jingle All the Way. Well, if it does not have Tim Allen or Arnold Schwarzenegger in it that’s quite a start.
