What is to be of The Shadow

Sam Raimi has been tossing around the notion of getting another movie of The Shadow done with him as producer, and more than likely without any form of Alec Baldwin and the huge prosthetic nose. Today this is not the case, mainly because Sony Pictures let the film rights reach it’s expiration date and could care less of what happens to the property. After all, they’ve got a bigger web-slinging comic book franchise to still continually milk once more in 2012.

The Shadow originated within radio during the 1930s which spawned off into pulp comics, comic books, television and the inevitable 1994 film.

The latest studio to come up and woo over the Sam Raimi claimed rights to them is Twentieth Century Fox, reports Variety. Of course Raimi would still be on as producer, but at this point in time you wonder if there would be much of an appeal to The Shadow and his powers after this decade’s worth of super powered beings that have swamped the cinemas. Only time will tell if someone finally takes a bite at this property. One thing’s for sure, if I ever had the chance to name a person utterly great some awesome-worthy name it would be Lamont Cranston (aka The Shadow).
