Webb gets caught up in Spidey

Submitted by Melissa Molina on January 20, 2010 – 10:01 amNo Comment

Sony Pictures wants to get their Spider-Man remake on the fast track big time as they quickly hire 500 Days of Summer director Marc Webb to helm the feature. Penning the script is James Vanderbilt who was previously attached to the now canned Spider-Man 4. Producing will be Avi Arad and Laura Ziskin with the studio already set to start filming later this year, reports Variety.

A huge uproar emerged from the internet world when Sam Raimi jumped ship on Spider-Man 4 from Sony Pictures, sounding more like a divorce than anything else with their ‘irreconcilable differences’. Now that he’s out of the picture, Sony is completely re-buffering their highly successful comic book franchise that is not even a decade old. Now that the writer and the director are set, it’s only a matter of time until we find out who will be cast onto the picture.
