WB making 3D Battle of Midway film

Hollywood has always had a fascination in WWII films. Saving Private Ryan, Pearl Harbor, Windtalkers, and many more have been made over the years. Now, Warner Bros. has optioned a film on the Battle of Midway.

Deadline Hollywood reports that Bruce C. McKenna, who wrote and co-executive produced HBO’s Pacific will be penning the script to a 3D film on the Battle of Midway. The studio bought McKenna’s script last week and is looking to fast-track the film. The film will be shot in 3D.

McKenna is expected to submit a draft in 8 weeks, and will have a budget of around $200 million. Weed Road will be producing the film. For those who don’t know their history, the Battle of Midway took place six months after the attack on Pearl Harbor, and was a major turning point in the war.
