Wanted 2 no more

Vulture has reported that since Angelina Jolie is busy shooting a new film with Johnny Depp called The Tourist, as well as signing onto Gravity, a new sci-fi from Alfonso Cuaron (Children of Men), Universal has decided to nix the sequel to Wanted, since Jolie has pulled out of the planned sequel.

Even though her character “died” in the first film, Universal is not happy with the idea of recasting, so the whole sequel is bye-bye. Timur Bekmambetov was coming back to direct from a script by Evan Spiliotopoulos, along with James McAvoy. No word on if this sequel will come back to life again or is dead permanently, but one can assume a sequel to Wanted is now a pipe dream.

Look for Jolie in this summer’s Salt.
