Update: Poltergeist Remake

Submitted by Melissa Molina on October 15, 2009 – 10:19 amNo Comment

poltergeist_xl_01-film-bEarlier today the folks at Bloody Disgusting reported something to please many fans of the Poltergeist series, or films, with an actual halt to production on the remake. Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer pulled the 1982 horror remake from it’s earlier November 24, 2010 release to a up in the air 2011 release. The updated version is being directed by “House of Sand and Fog” director Vadim Perelman with Juliet Snowden and Stiles White writing the script. White and Snowden both previously worked on the script for the Nicolas Cage starring film “Knowing” and “Boogeyman”.

Unfortunately for all of those who are jumping in the air with joy right now, MGM decided to clear what exactly they’re trying to do. MGM comes out a couple of hours later and informs everyone that even though they changed the release date to a completely unspecified time, that initial filming will start in early 2010.

What are your thoughts on this? Should they continue with this particular remake or let it sit and die?
