Universal brings on Fast Five

Submitted by Melissa Molina on February 4, 2010 – 11:55 amNo Comment

Don’t you just hate it when you think that one movie franchise is going to finally die after said installment but then the studio pops out of nowhere and tells you that there’s one more that’ll crop out? That’s the case with Universal Pictures as they announce that they’re making a fifth installment of the Fast and the Furious franchise and are dubbing it as Fast Five. Paul Walker and Vin Diesel are both signed on to remind everyone that they still have careers. Also latching onto the upcoming project is Justin Lin working as director, who already has worked with the franchise with the fourth film Fast & Furious.

Producing the picture is Neal Mortiz with scribe Chris Morgan penning the latest chapter in the adrenaline induced series. The story finds protags Dom (Diesel) and Brian (Walker) as fugitives being pursued by relentless lawmen (Variety). The film is scheduled to be released in 2011, more than likely during the summertime since Fast & Furious did so well in theaters last summer.
