Underwood is a Soul Surfer

Singer Carrie Underwood joins the cast that now includes Dennis Quaid, AnnaSophia Robb and Helen Hunt for the upcoming film Soul Surfer. The story is about surf icon (Robb) who defied all odds to compete and win professional championships after losing her arm in a shark attack at age 13 (Variety). The script is penned by Douglas Schwartz, Deborah Schwartz and Michael Berk with Sean McNamara directing the picture.

Principal photography is already expected to start up next week in Hawaii with a yet to be announced release date. Producing the picture is companies Brookwell McNamara Entertainment along with Mandalay Vision and Life’s a Beach Entertainment.
