Two more go to The Green Lantern

Temuera Morrison and Taika Waititi are the latest to sign up for the supporting cast in DC Enterprises and Warner Bros Pictures’ latest film The Green Lantern. Morrison is best known for his role as Jango Fett in Star Wars: Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith. For those of you who went to this year’s Sundance Film Festival, he appeared in the New Zealand feature Boy which has yet to find distribution domestically at the moment.

Waititi plays the best friend of Hal Jordan, the test pilot who comes to wear the super-powered ring of the interplanetary police force known as the Green Lantern Corps. Morrison is playing Abin Sur, a member of the Corps who is instrumental in Jordan becoming the superhero (Heat Vision Blog).

The Green Lantern, directed by Martin Campbell, is expected to start filming sometime next week. The comic book adaptation stars Ryan Reynolds as test pilot Hal Jordan who is granted a mystical green ring that bestows him with otherworldly powers, as well as membership into an intergalactic squadron tasked with keeping peace within the universe. Those also in the cast are Blake Lively, Tim Robbins, Mark Strong and Peter Sarsgaard. The Green Lantern is expected to fly into theaters on June 17th, 2011.
