Three more add onto A Big Year
Rashida Jones, Anjelica Huston and Jim Parsons join up on the cast for the comedy A Big Year from Fox 2000 Pictures. The David Frankel directed film already includes the talents of Jack Black, Owen Wilson and Steve Martin with new additions Dianne Wiest, Anthony Anderson, Brian Dennehy, Rosamund Pike, Tim Blake Nelson and JoBeth Williams.
The Big Year is based off the novel The Big Year: A Tale of Man, Nature and Fowl Obssession by Mark Obmascik and adapted for the big screen by Howard Franklin. The story revolves around three competitors, obsessive in their quest to see who could catalog the most bird sightings. Their tale takes them back and forth across the North American continent, risking money and health in their drive to stay ahead of the others.
Jones plays the love interest of Black’s character as an avid birder in the contest. Also an avid birder, Huston’s character captains ocean-going expeditions. Parsons, star of CBS’ “The Big Bang Theory,” plays the author of a popular avian blog (Variety). Principal photography is starting up this week, setting up the film for completion and release sometime in 2011.
Rashida Jones appears on the big screen once more in David Fincher’s The Social Network, scheduled for a release in theaters on October 15th. Huston appears possibly sometime this year, depending on the release date, in the Seth Rogen cancer comedy.
