Thor’s ready for his close-up

Submitted by Melissa Molina on November 13, 2009 – 10:26 pmNo Comment

That’s right folks, it looks like Kenneth Branagh’s latest directed feature Thor is finally going to buckle down and jump in front of the camera. Filming begins in January, and JoBlo has this news from none other than Twitter. Here’s what Production Weekly says on it.:

“Filming on Marvel’s “Thor” is scheduled to begin in LA mid-January, then move to Santa Fe, New Mexico from March till late-April.”

Thor stars Chris Hemsworth in the title character role along with Natalie Portman, Anthony Hopkins, Samuel L. Jackson, Jaimie Alexander and many others. The Marvel Studios film is scheduled to be released May 20, 2011. At this point, since they’re going to start filming in January, my prediction of Thor being the headliner of footage in the Marvel panel of 2010’s San Diego Comic-Con is becoming more and more inevitable so-to-speak.
