Thomas Jane’s Directorial Debut Throttles October 6th
Actor Thomas Jane attempts to move from acting to directing in Dark Country, which Sony Pictures is set to release… straight-to-DVD… this October. Granted, I have yet to see a great movie that’s been released straight-to-DVD, Jane previously directed short Jonni Nitro in 2000 which was pretty rad.
A couple of honeymooners (Thomas Jane and Lauren German), passing through the Las Vegas Desert, rescue a car crash survivor, ending a body out in the desert, making their honeymoon one hellish ride.
While the story seems to be some pretty standard, run-of-the-mill roadtrip gone bad, the visuals look pretty neat. Jane has stated the movie will “remain true to the stylistic choices of film noir, while delivering an immersive reality and visceral experience that only the next generation of 3D cinematography could provide.”
The movie was shot prepared for 3D, but seeing as how it’s straight-to-DVD, one can only keep their fingers crossed.
