This Is It tops them all
It’s no surprise that the Michael Jackson rehearsal footage film “This Is It” managed to top the weekend box office despite it’s Wednesday release date. Taking in $21.3 Million, the ‘for the fans’ movie is able to capture enough audience members into seeing it this past Halloween weekend. Since it was Halloween, you would figure that there would be a small bump up for all things horror up on the big screen right now. It did warrant enough attention to bring movie goers like myself to see “Saw VI” and “Paranormal Activity” which made a fair share individually these past couple of days.
“Where The Wild Things Are” continues to make some amount of profit with it’s domestic overall take of $61.8 Million despite the $100 Million dollar budget. The film based off the children’s book will hopefully and eventually get back what it cost but with heavy hitter holiday features just right around the corner, it’s not looking too good. The bomb of the day goes to Summit Entertainment and Imagi Animation Studio’s “Astro Boy” which only has $10.8 under it’s belt and sinking although it has a $65 Million budget it needs to make back and at this point eventually will when it hits DVD and Blu-Ray. The rest of the list, special thanks to Box Office Mojo, can be seen below.:
Weekend Box Office (October 30-November 1)
- Michael Jackson’s This Is It  ($21.3 M)
- Paranormal Activity  ($16.5 M)
- Law Abiding Citizen  ($7.3 M)
- Couples Retreat  ($6 M)
- Saw VI Â ($5.5 M)
- Where the Wild Things Are  ($5 M)
- The Stepfather  ($3.4 M)
- Astro Boy  ($3 M)
- Amelia  ($3 M)
- Cirque Du Freak: The Vampire’s Assistant  ($2.8 M)
It’s November now, which means that the full blown holiday season has arrived. What better way to start it out than with Walt Disney Picture’s A Christmas Carol. The rest that flow out on November 6th is “The Fourth Kind“, “The Box” and “The Men Who Stare at Goats“.

21.3M? Wow, there sure are a number of people out there who support pedophiles.

Regardless of his personal life, the contribution he made to music can’t be denied. And that’s what This Is It is about. Plus, the man’s dead. Stop living in the past.

Sorry, but his past rights don’t make up for his wrongs. Screwing little boys is beyond wrong….its inhuman, and ANYONE regardless of their popularity shouldn’t be aloud to get away with it. Besides I don’t see whats so great about his music anyway. I mean he had two good songs, wow.

Never been proven, and if it was true, what’s stopping those people now from coming out with the truth?

“what’s stopping those people now from coming out with the truth?”
Because people can’t handle the truth, they would still deny it even if it was proven.

Innocent until proven guilty. And just because you don’t listen to pop music (where the money’s at) doesn’t mean his influence isn’t there. Many musicians cite Michael Jackson alongside Elvis, The Beatles, The Stones, and Buddy Holly as influences. Two songs? Try an entire album of record-setting #1 hits. And an entire career of musical history that can never be repeated. Also, show a little respect. He recently passed away. He’s only a monster to ignorants. Due process. He got his due process and was never convicted due to the fact that both allegations were found to be extortion attempts. Unless you think you’re God, you shouldn’t pass judgement. Yes, Michael Jackson was an odd person, but not a monster.

“Unless you think you’re God, you shouldn’t pass judgement.”
LOL. I love how people say crap that when they talk about Michael Jackson, but when its someone other than him they will bash him just as quickly as I will.
“He’s only a monster to ignorants.”
Yeah, or to those who don’t support pedophilia, or who support people who dangle their own kids from a balcony, or crazy people who make hit lists.
Well, since I’m arguing with a fanboy I’m just gonna end this. Arguing with a fanboy is like talking to a wall. They don’t listen and will only accept statements like “Michael Jackson is God”.
ps: I wouldn’t believe what the jurors say if I were you, considering we have a CORRUPT and FLAWED system.

The trial-by-peer system has been around for thousands of years. I’ve not said whether or not I think he’s a pedophile, but respect for the deceased is the more important part here. Everyone deserves the benefit of the doubt. Oh wait! The first incident was a well-documented extortion plot that the police discovered and reported, and the second incident, he was found not guilty. The documentary is about a tour that millions of people were excited about. I’m pretty sure he’s one of a elite few that could had millions of people ready and willing to pay thousands of dollars to see you for two hours.
Everyone knows that being in the spotlight 90% of his life caused problems. Right or wrong, it happens. No one here thinks Michael Jackson is God; he’s a person. I brought up the fact that your comment was off-topic. Jon brought up the valid point that the Michael Jackson survivors are now in the care of the Jackson Family, who also hold a substantial amount of the Beatles catalog. Michael Jackson made mistakes. He’s only human. Give the guy a break. As anyone can tell you, I loathe pop music but his talent can’t be denied.
My argument was over respect for the dead. Not about Michael Jackson’s personal life. I can throw out quotes too.
“Regardless of his personal life, the contribution he made to music can’t be denied.” It’s hard to talk to bigots, it’s like talking to a wall.

Regardless, nobody had music videos or live performances like MJ.
