The Orphanage finds its director for remake
Larry Fessenden, cult director of the such great horror films like Wendigo, Habit, and his most recent full length film The Last Winter, has just been tapped to helm the upcoming remake of the hit Spanish horror film The Orphanage. Â The original film was directed by Juan Antonio Bayona, with Pan’s Labyrinth director Guillermo Del Toro as the film’s producer. It earned 7 Goya awards including Best Film, Best Art Direction, Best Director of Production, Best Makeup and Hair, Best New Director, Best Screenplay – Original, Â and Best Sound Mixing among its nominations.
No word on any initial casting as of yet, but is expected to begin shortly.

Just like with the Dragon Tattoo remake, a great director is attached. Which means the film will most likely be good.
But still an unnecessary remake nonetheless.

I agree. I love Larry, and his work is fantastic. Should be a good movie. Not needed, but good.
