The last exorcist becomes a Martyr

The planned Hollywood remake of the french horror film Martyrs has found itself a director. The man behind the camera for The Last Exorcism Daniel Stamm has been hired for Martyrs. Stamm is currently directing the next film for Night Chronicles (M. Night Shyamalan’s company), and this will follow.

He told the LA Times: “Martyrs is very nihilistic, the American approach [that I'm looking at] would go through all that darkness but then give a glimmer of hope. You don’t have to shoot yourself when it’s over.”

He has also denied the rumor of Kristen Stewart starring in the remake, stating it was the first he’d heard about it.

The original film is quite brutal and unrelenting, will they keep that same brutality? Time will tell.

A young woman’s quest for revenge against the people who kidnapped and tormented her as a child leads her and a friend, who is also a victim of child abuse, on a terrifying journey into a living hell of depravity.
