The Last Exorcism gets a MPAA rating
One of this year’s more hyped horror films, The Last Exorcism, which was prodcued by Eli Roth was given a rating by the MPAA today of PG-13 for “for disturbing violent content and terror, some sexual references and thematic material.” The Daniel Stramm directed film opens on August 27th.

And the synopsis of the plot you ask? “When he arrives on the rural Louisiana farm of Louis Sweetzer, the Reverend Cotton Marcus expects to perform just another routine “exorcism” on a disturbed religious fanatic. An earnest fundamentalist, Sweetzer has contacted the charismatic preacher as a last resort, certain his teenage daughter Nell is possessed by a demon who must be exorcised before their terrifying ordeal ends in unimaginable tragedy.
Buckling under the weight of his conscience after years of parting desperate believers with their money, Cotton and his crew plan to film a confessional documentary of this, his last exorcism. But upon arriving at the already blood-drenched family farm, it is soon clear that nothing could have prepared him for the true evil he encounters there. Now, too late to turn back, Reverend Marcus’ own beliefs are shaken to the core when he and his crew must find a way to save Nell – and themselves – before it is too late.”
Guess we will see if the film needed an R-rating or if no matter what, still scared us.

oooh, sounds good! like you said, as long as it scares me, who cares what it’s rated. besides, any movie filmed in louisiana is worth the watch to laugh at their impressions of our accents.

Good horror is good horror. Still will see it.
Never cared too much for this debate of R vs PG-13. A lot of good horro can be rated PG-13, as long as it does it’s job. THE RING remake was very creepy and was only PG-13. I’m super hyped for this one, as I’ll see anything Eli Roth has his name attached to.
We will have an early review of THE LAST EXORCISM real soon!
