The Hobbit to be in 3D?
Although the Guillermo Del Toro directed feature The Hobbit is not seeing the light of big screen day until it’s initial projected 2012 release date, that does not mean it can escape the 3D frenzy. Over at TheOneRing.Net, there’s a report from supposedly Guillermo himself stating the following.:
I wouldn’t read much on it just yet, but now, after all this time, after AVATAR doing the Box Office it did, we have had enquires from above about The Hobbit being in 3-D.
No impositions or heavy leaning. Just enquires. Just fulfilling my promise to let you all know if discussions ever started.
Cheers

With the ongoing fever for every other live action or animated film to be pulled into the third dimension still gripping different layers of Tinseltown, could this be a bit much if it does come into fruition? Is there even a need for The Hobbit to go in 3D, and even more so would you sit for what could clock in to be three hours worth of a movie with those glasses over your eyes? Currently the upcoming prequel to the Lord of the Rings series is delayed to 2012, leaving this project stuck at the moment in pre-production.
