The Green Lantern is officially lit

Submitted by Melissa Molina on January 8, 2010 – 7:26 amOne Comment

There’s been casting decisions and location scouting up the yin-yang for awhile on the DC Comics and Warner Bros Pictures comic book adaptation The Green Lantern for awhile now. SuperHeroHype confirms that the film got the official green light on January 6th, which is all good for those who are fans of the science fiction themed superhero. Here’s more on who dished out the news for the website, visual effects supervisor Karen Goulekas.:

Wow! Been a long time since I posted! But today is a day worth posting about!

Green Lantern got the official green light today! And not a second too soon – only 10 weeks out from shooting!

While it’s great news we are a go – now we have to actually get our prep done in 10 weeks!
DOH!

But we have an amazing crew – so we will make it happen!

In ten weeks? It looks like Warner Bros and DC are aching to try and still capitalize on their good comic book adaptation name, with the last feature of their collaborative sort being the mega blockbuster hit The Dark Knight. The Green Lantern stars Ryan Reynolds and is being directed by Martin Campbell with a June 17th, 2011 release date.
