The Greatest Muppet Movie of All Time?
Well, if we were living in a some what imaginary world we’d love to feed ourselves mentally with the notion that the Jason Segel and Nicholas Stoller script for the newest Muppet movie would be spectacular. When you title your film supposedly to be The Greatest Muppet Movie of All Time, you set people up with certain expectations. Unfortunately, considering the word from the October draft that The Playlist was able to squeeze out of an anonymous source, the script is anything but that. Here’s a snippet of what is already found within the script and what’s the verdict on this draft so far.:
“The Greatest Muppet Movie of All Time” is about Gary, Mary, and Walter (a man, his girlfriend, and the man’s life-long nondescript, brown puppet best friend) getting the old Muppet gang — now retired entertainers known for the same Muppet show we know them from — together to save the TV studio that the original show was shot in.
…It’s a solid attempt at recapturing what made ”The Muppet Show” and the first two Muppetmovies so great, but “The Great Muppet Movie of All Time” is no ”Great Muppet Caper” — ‘Caper’ being to the first Muppets film, what “The Empire Strikes Back” is to “Star Wars” — but it is a fresh, younger approach.”

At least there’s a director attached to it, James Bobin, after the arm pulling contest that happened a couple of weeks ago between that project and Bridesmaids, a comedy that was under Judd Apatow.
