The Flash and Green Lantern 2 targeted for 2013?
With fans excited about the news that Christopher Nolan is expected to turn in the final draft for The Dark Knight Rises today (here), many seemed to be forgetting that two more scripts are on the way, The Flash and Green Lantern 2. Nothing has been heard about the status of both films, but we’ve heard that that scripts for both will be turned in around this time (here). Now, Comic Book Movies gets word from an anonymous insider, “Mr. Burbank”, saying the scripts are in, and that a tentative release date has been set for each film:
“Hey MrDC.:
Green Lantern sequel and Flash scripts have both been handed in at WB and DCE and are being read through now. Geoff Johns is Exec. Producing both films and has a big influence on both. The same guy told me that both films are being released in 2013. GL2 very early June (1st – 10th) and Flash will be late July (20th onwards) so that both films can have the box office to themselves without stepping on each others toes. They are just preliminary target dates though and can change. Anyway keep you up to date with any Superman news but none today.”
It’s rather interesting the scripts for both films to be handed in the same time as The Dark Knight Rises, but doesn’t about this just seems off. The release dates would make sense as Geoff Johns, CCO of DC Entertainment Inc., has mentioned that two films will be released a year (here). With Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises and Snyder’s The Man of Steel taking up 2012, it only makes sense to target The Flash and Green Lantern 2 for 2013. While many are wanting The Flash to speed towards completion, many are waiting to see how Martin Campbell’s Green Lantern turn out after mixed reaction to the trailer (here). However, you should take this as a rumor for right now.
If true, then it would be interesting to see what’s planned for 2014 as Aquaman is reportedly (here) target for a 2015 release.
The GL trailer didn’t make up want to see it, doubt if I’ll be interested in a sequel.
Didn’t know a live action version of The Flash was coming.

I liked the GL trailer, but trailers have always been lies. Plenty of bad films had good trailers (XO:W, Star Wars prequels). I’m optimistic it will be good though.
