The Expendables sequel shooting next Spring?
The Expendables proved to be what it set out to be, just a fun throwback to action films of the 80′s. With the film being a hit at the box-office, a sequel is begin fast-tracked into production (here), and it seems that a start date has been given.
Speaking with Movie Web,  three-time world champion MMA fighter Randy Couture has revealed that he’s set to begin work on The Expendables 2 next Spring. “And obviously, I will be doing The Expendables 2 sometime in the spring,” he said. Of course, one of the best things about the sequel was seeing all legendary action stars in one, and many are wanting to see even more stars join the cast. However, Couture thinks that could hurt the film. “I almost hesitate to see anyone added to this, for fear that it now gets screwed up,” he said.
A common theme in sequels is to see the back-story of the lead characters, and Couture believes The Expendables 2 may offer that as well. “I hope that’s the case. But people go to this type of movie for a certain thing. And a big dramatic backstory probably isn’t it. Knowing Sly, he’ll find a way to work that in,” he said. But he mentions that Stallone is still working on the script, so he has no idea of what to expect in the sequel. If Couture is right about the start date, then we can probably expect to see the film added to the already great line-up for 2012.
