The Dark Tower goes into film and TV
Not only is Imagine Entertainment and Weed Road fixing to make a feature film trilogy of the Stephen King novel series The Dark Tower, but a television series could also be underway. Universal Pictures/Imagine Entertainment is straightening out the details in order to acquire the novel rights so everything can go quickly into motion. Since this is basically Stephen King’s hottest written property that he’s developed within the span of the last decade, it’s no wonder that companies would be drooling over the thought of having this in their hands.
King’s epic novel series is set in an otherworldly but familiar world, and involves a quest to save the world. The series spanned seven novels that involved Roland Deschain, the last living member of a knightly order of gunslingers who exists in a world that has an Old West feel, but which is infused with magic. He is on a quest to find the Dark Tower, a structure that holds the key to the nexus of all universes. He encounters many allies and enemies along the way, as the world crumbles around him (Deadline).
Already latched on to produce is Stephen King with Akiva Goldsman and Brian Grazer under Imagine. Goldsman is set to put together the script, but no word yet on how fast this will all go on the big screen and television.
