The Crow remake is still flapping its wings
There is always a certain set of films that you hope nobody ever touches. Either for nostalgic reasonings or the pure piece of cinematic masterpiece you might think the feature is, you hope that Hollywood does not put it through the remake blender. The Crow is yet another casualty in the ongoing remake rampage that is seemingly in full force these past couple of years. Mind you, the project was talked about being in development awhile ago, but ever since then it fell into a bit of a silent limbo which was nothing to worry about until now.
Normally, when say for instance college or high school students go through a short film the first time, they may not like the end result. It most likely did not get that great of criticism and therefore in the short or long future end up remaking it into a fresh and better version of the original. When you have films like The Crow which are loved by many and overall well done, that does not warrant any sort of green light to go and remake the original comic book adaptation property. Here’s what JoBlo found out on the property:
(Ryan) Kavanaugh says that he can’t really talk about the casting yet, “We’ve got good ideas. We’re looking. We’re in discussions….I think it’s something cool, we’re approaching it differently. It’s really a whole relaunch of the franchise, much more of a dark superhero type. As far as if it will be a known or unknown actor playing Eric Draven, “It will be an actor you’ve heard of, yes. We’re not ruling anything out. We’re looking at both, with the very well known and the “very talented but they may not be quite there yet.” Kavanaugh did want everyone to know that it’s not a remake, but a relaunch.
This reporter sees no particular difference between a remake and a relaunch. When your discussing on how your going to fix up the main character it sends off a signal that this could be a completely new piece of paper on the entire series for them. The Crow relaunch is being penned at the moment by Stephen Norrington who is also directing the film.

This is one the few remakes that I’m actually looking forward to.
