The Croods get two more

Nicolas Cage and Ryan Reynolds are both signing on to lend their voices to the new DreamWorks Animation film called The Croods. Cage will play the leader and protector of his family, and Reynolds will portray an outsider whose new ideas challenge the patriarch’s authority (CS!). The picture is being directed by Chris Sanders who’s best known for his directorial work in Lilo and Stitch along with the upcoming DreamWorks film How to Train Your Dragon.

The story is set in the prehistoric era, where a man’s position as Leader of the Hunt is threatened by the arrival of a prehistoric genius who comes up with revolutionary new inventions … like fire. The feature is written by Sanders along with Kirk DeMicco from an earlier draft that was penned by DeMicco and John Cleese. The film is expected to open on March 30th, 2012.
