Iron Man will get an uprade in The Avengers

While Iron Man 2 was sort of a disappointment when compared to the first film, it was nice to see more of the cool Iron Man suits such as the Mark V armor. That same trend will now be continued into Joss Whedon’s The Avengers. Before the Thor trailer came online last Friday (here), President of Production at Marvel Studios, Kevin Fiege, participated in an online chat at Hero Complex. There he revealed that Stark’s armor will upgrade in Whedon’s film. “Joss would kill me if I gave anything away, but I will say that the evolution you saw his armor take in IM2 will continue in The Avengers,” he said.

That’s probably pretty obvious. After all, The Avengers will be facing a big threat in the film, and an upgraded armor will be necessary. However, recent rumors (here) have been pointing that Loki (Tom Hiddleston) will controlling Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) and we could very well see Stark’s Hulkbuster armor in the film. Of course, that’s only speculation at this point, and we won’t know anything until we see some images from the film. Even if Hulk isn’t the primary villain, the creature will have to be contained somehow, and the Hulkbuster armor will be the best way Iron Man handle Hulk’s power.

The Avengers opens in May of 2012.
