Tennant and Mintz-Plasse jump on Fright Night

Doctor Who‘s David Tennant and Christopher Mintz-Plasse are joining in on the Craig Gillespie remake Fright Night. If your a huge fan of the 1985 Tom Holland film, you know already that Mintz-Plasse is taking on the role of Evil Ed, Charley’s (Anton Yelchin) best friend. Tennant is going to be Peter Vincent, who in the original version is a has-been B-horror movie actor who ends up trying to convince Charley that Dandrige (Colin Farrell) is nothing more than a human.

In the remake, he’s a Las Vegas magician whose show revolves around horror-movie imagery. Vincent claims to be a vampire expert, but when the teen turns to him for assistance, he’s less than helpful. Mintz-Plasse is playing Evil Ed, Yelchin’s friend who feels slighted that Charlie has left his nerdy past behind and thus joins the vampire’s coven (Heat Vision Blog).

That pretty much rounds out the cast at this point, judging from the fact that Toni Collette’s role as Charley’s mother is just the pure love interest to our new version of Jerry Dandrige (Farrell). Anton Yelchin plays the troubled teen who tries to convince everyone that his new neighbor is a vampire. Gillespie is directing the picture from the script written by Marti Noxon. Michael J Gaeta, Alison R. Rosenzweig and Michael De Luca are producing the feature, set to begin filming later this year in Las Vegas.
