Tarantino eyes himself a Western

No, that’s not the title of the next movie that popular director Quentin Tarantino wants to do. Rather, that’s the kind of genre that the Inglourious Basterds director would love to tackle next. During the Oscar nominees luncheon, he got to spill to NY Daily News about what exactly he wants to do with his latest developing project.:

“I’d like to do a Western. But rather than set it in Texas, have it in slavery times. With that subject that everybody is afraid to deal with. Let’s shine that light on ourselves. You could do a ponderous history lesson of slaves escaping on the Underground Railroad. Or, you could make a movie that would be exciting. Do it as an adventure. A spaghetti Western that takes place during that time. And I would call it ‘A Southern.’”

Inglourious Basterds is nominated for eight Oscars at this year’s Academy Awards, among those being Best Picture, Cinematography, Director, Editing, Sound, Sound Editing, Supporting Actor and Original Screenplay.
