Summit taps into Mars and Venus
We’ve all heard of that one book, regardless of whether or not we have read it. Men Are from Mars, Women Are From Venus, one of the supposed bibles of relationship novels, written by John Gray, that every other person has either heard of or flipped through at some point in their lifetime. Now Summit Entertainment is completely capitalizing on the hot property as they scoop up the film and television rights to adapt the novel into a big screen feature.
Those already locked in to produce the feature include Lloyd Braun and Gail Berman under their BermanBraun banner. Here’s a little more information and overall reaction on the recent deal made by president of production Eric Feig to Variety.:
“‘Men Are From Mars, Women Are From Venus’ is not just the title of a book, or what we know will become an amazing film and TV franchise – it is a pop cultural mainstay and comically, sadly, romantically, all too often still true these many years after first being published,” said Eric Feig, Summit’s president of production.
The powerful studio has been making big moves within the past few months, putting together productions such as the science fiction thriller The Darkest Hour and Puzzle Palace from scribe David Guggenheim. They’re currently in the middle of post-production for the highly anticipated third installment The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, set to be released in theaters and IMAX everywhere on June 30th.
