Studio Ghibli doing The Borrowers

Submitted by Melissa Molina on December 17, 2009 – 12:20 amNo Comment

karigurashinoarriettyStudio Ghibli is still going fast at work with its latest and greatest 2D animated feature length films as they announce their newest project called Karigurashi no Arrietty. What that title means is Arrietty Borrows Everything, and better still is that this particular animated film is based off of Mary Norton’s tale The Borrowers. The film is being directed by studio animator Hiromasa Yonebayashi under the supervision of Ghibli maestro Hayao Miyazaki (Variety).

The story is about a family of people just a few inches tall who hide from the world and live by “borrowing” from normal-sized humans. The picture that’s well placed on the side of this article is the first image for the upcoming animated flick. Studio Ghibli’s latest domestically released film Ponyo will be coming out on Disney DVD and Blu-Ray on March 2nd, 2010. If you have not seen the loosely Little Mermaid based film then I highly recommend to check it out, especially if your a great admirer of Hayao Miyazaki.
