Stockholders approve merger, Disney reigns supreme

Marvel_and_Disney_by_danielhdrMarvel Entertainment got the okay from their own stockholders for the Agreement and Plan Merger that ties together Marvel and Disney. Sure, the internet blew itself up with the announcement of the merger which throws the House of Mouse into superhero comic book territory, but now it’s a basic confirmation.

Marvel anticipates that the merger, which, based on the closing price of Disney’s common stock on December 30, 2009, has an estimated value of approximately $4.3 billion, will be completed today after the close of the market (Coming Soon). Here’s hoping that this merger works out for the best, and even more so we’ll finally get to see in 2010 what exactly will slowly start to come out from all of this.

  1. Now both DC and Marvel are small tentacles of a much larger octopus. I really don’t like Marvel being owned by Disney or any large corporation. At least my Marvel stock went up.

  2. I personally don’t think Disney owning Marvel will hurt the company. I think they’ll help finance and be a cushion for them. Remember, Marvel went bankrupt a few years back.
