Stewart and Fanning on The Runaways

Submitted by Melissa Molina on January 27, 2010 – 5:59 pmNo Comment

One of the most buzzed about films that is coming out of this year’s Sundance Film Festival is The Runaways. Right below there’s an interview with the two lead stars Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning on the making of the biopic.

The film follows two friends, Joan Jett (Stewart) and Cherie Curie (Fanning), as they rise from rebellious Southern California kids to rock stars of the now legendary group that paved the way for future generations of girl bands. Joan and Cherie fall under the Svengali-like influence of rock impresario Kim Fowley, played by Michael Shannon, who turns the group into an outrageous success and a family of misfits. With its tough-chick image and raw talent, the band quickly earns a name for itself – and so do its two leads: Joan is the band’ s pure rock’ n’ roll heart, while Cherie, with her Bowie-Bardot looks, is the sex kitten. The film chronicles Joan and Cherie’s tumultuous relationship on and off stage, as the band starts to break out.

The feature is written and directed by Floria Sigismondi and is produced by Art Linson, William Pohlad and John Linson. The Runaways blasts into theaters on March 19th under Apparition. Check out the piece below, and if you want more go and check out the official Facebook page of The Runaways.:
