Steinfeld joins up on True Grit
The Coen brothers finally narrowed down their search to find a young girl to fill up the role of Mattie Ross as they pick up budding actress Hailee Steinfeld to take on the role in the upcoming remake of True Grit. The picture already stars Jeff Bridges, Matt Damon and Josh Brolin in the main roles of the re-imagining of the 1966 original that was directed by Henry Hathaway.
The key missing puzzle was Mattie Ross, the brassy teenager in the film who gets the plot and story rolling when her father is murdered by his cowardly farm hand (Brolin) and she then hires a drunkenirascible U.S. Marshall (Bridges) to track him down. A hard-nosed Texas Ranger (Matt Damon), already on the man’s tail eventually joins there pursuit (The Playlist).
The picture, penned by the Coen brothers, is being produced by Scott Rudin with a December 25th release date from Paramount Pictures.
