Star Trek sequel taking off in 2012

Submitted by Melissa Molina on January 11, 2010 – 12:48 am2 Comments

If your dying to get a bit more of your fix for another Star Trek movie then you better pop in one of the previous ones for awhile. The J.J. Abrams sequel to the 2009 summer hit movie Star Trek has been greenlit a sequel for some time. Now it appears that Paramount Pictures is assuring us that a sequel is going to happen as they announce the latest installment of the series will be out on June 29th, 2012.

Coming Soon reports that at the moment the Star Trek sequel is stand alone in it’s summer Friday release spot. Judging how great the first Abrams Star Trek movie did box office wise, the other films paired up with it in it’s opening weekend might not even have a prayer. Abrams just completed directing the television series Anatomy of Hope, expected to be released sometime this year.
