Star Trek sequel gets warmed up

star trek 2009 captain's chairJ.J. Abrams might be distracted at the moment with a mystery film that we reported earlier this month, but apparently Zoe Saldana has the scoop on what’s really going on with him. Here’s what the Avatar and Star Trek actress said to Collider

“I spoke to J.J. and Bryan Burk, his producing partner at Bad Robot, and they are still in the middle of building the script with Alex Kurtzman and Bob Orci, and we’ll probably be going into pre-production around this time next year.”

This still gives Abrams plenty of time to develop and start up whatever mystery project he has on the backburner. Right now he’s attached to directing the pilots of the television series Anatomy of Hope and Undercovers. Saldana is expected to be next seen in the John Luessenhop directed crime drama called Takers.
