Spider-Man’s love interests revealed?

An interesting twist in the search for the female lead in Spider-Man 3D has been revealed. It’s been previously thought that Mary Jane Watson wouldn’t be Spider-man’s (Andrew Garfield) love interest in Marc Webb’s reboot, and that either Gwen Stacy or another character would be featured. Now, it seems that Mary Jane will be in the film after all.

A source close to production told Entertainment Weekly that Mary Jane and Gwen Stacy will appear in the film. It’s apparently confirmed that Watson won’t be the object of Parker’s affection, but Gwen Stacy will be. The studio is still searching for the actress to portray each part, with Emma Stone and Mia Wasikowska the most recent announced. One could assume that Stone would most likely been in talks for the role of Mary Jane. Production is scheduled to begin in December, so we should know who’s playing who soon.

Spider-Man 3D is scheduled for a release in July of 2012.
