Snow Flower floats to Fox Searchlight

The Wayne Wang film Snow Flower and the Secret Fan is making it’s way to the States as Fox Searchlight picks up the North American rights. The picture is actually a novel adaptation of the same name created by Lisa See that stars Gianna Jun, Hugh Jackman and Li Bing Bing.

Story’s set on parallel tracks in China — one in the 19th Century, centered on two 7-year-old girls who are isolated by their families and furtively communicate by taking turns writing in a secret language between the folds of a white silk fan; the other in present day Shanghai, where the descendants struggle to maintain the intimacy of their own childhood friendship in the face of demanding careers, complicated love lives, and a relentlessly evolving Shanghai (Variety).

Snow Flower and the Secret Fan is currently in post production with a 2011 release date set.

I've been in love with film ever since I was a kid. The time, effort and passion that runs through a majority most film is something that's always attracted me to this field. What ended up happening with my big appetite for all things going on in the industry turned from random blurbs on Facebook to an unexpected but fun job. College student by day, movie news writer by early morning...or any time in the day and night when more news arrives. Working towards my bachelor's degree in film, what a surprise. I do other things too, like draw, write stories, maintain a social life and feed my pet dragon Lockheed. If you want to know more about me, hunt me down and just ask.
