Sin City 2 may be Rodriguez’s next

It’s an understatement to say that fans have been waiting a long time for Sin City 2. With the long-list of projects Robert Rodriguez has scheduled to make, it was thought that it would be a while before we could see the film. However, fans can rejoice as development on the film could be moving forward after Spy Kids 4 is completed.

In a Facebook Livechat (via The Playlist), Rodriguez is revealed that Sin City 2 is next on his schedule, and will happen IF the script is completed. “It’s slated to be the next one, but if the script is not ready, then we’ll have to move to the next one,” he said. When last reported, Rodriguez mentioned that he was re-writing the script (here), and is working with Frank Miller to complete it in time. It’s unknown what Rodriguez means by “the next one”, but it’s possible it could be a sci-fi film titled, Nervewracker. It’s also unknown what impact this would have on him directing Deadpool for Fox, who are wanting the film to get off by next year.

As for what stories we could expect to see for the sequel, Miller was wanting to use the Hell and Back storyline, which was apparently written for Johnny Depp.  ”It’s quite possible,” he said. However, that was back in 2007, and it’s uncertain if that’ll be used for the sequel. One character Rodriguez does want to bring back is Hartigan (Bruce Willis).  “I wanna bring him back for Sin City because he’s so bad-ass,” he said. However, for those who have seen the first know that may prove difficult depending on where the film will go. For all we know the sequel could feature a prequel to That Yellow Bastard storyline.
