Shorltist for Singer’s Giant Killer

When it was last reported, Bryan Singer’s Jack the Giant Killer was officially green-lit with casting underway (here). The film tells the story of a younger farmer is leads a mission to rescue a kidnapped princess from from the giants’ kingdom. The Hollywood Reporter now reveals that Aaron Johnson (Kick-Ass), Nicholas Hoult (X-men: First Class), and Aneurin Barnard (Ironclad) are up for the role of the young farmer. This also confirms earlier reports (here) that Singer was looking at the casting of Matthew Vaughn’s X-men: First Class for actors.

Meanwhile, Singer is also looking at Adelaide Kane (Neighbours, Power Rangers R.P.M.), Lily Collins (The Blind Side, Priest), and Juno Temple (Dirty Girl, The Three Musketeers) are testing for the role of the kidnapped princess. The studio and Singer are planning to hold these screen-tests within the next two weeks, but no schedule has been worked out yet. Each actor is also requested to sign a deal that will secure them for eight-to-nine months. Production was originally scheduled to begin last summer, but was pushed back to March 2011 due to the heavy special effects the film requires.
