Sgt. Rock switches it’s wars

Sgt. Rock is yet another comic book adapted feature that’s making its way slowly but surely onto the big screen. It’s still in the midst of development, but that doesn’t stop producer Joel Silver gabbing away about what’s going on with the script. Dark Horizons found out the latest on the war based action feature and what is being changed up.:

Silver says “It’s a little bit in the future. As a war movie, it’s not going to be ‘where it’s been,’ it’s going to be ‘where it’s going.’ We didn’t want to do Iraq, we didn’t want to do a contemporary war. We wanted to do a sort of futuristic war.”

The famed producer adds “It’s pretty strong. Chad St. John wrote the script and we’ve got Francis Lawrence involved in developing it with us. It’s not a ‘go’ movie yet but I’m feeling good about it.”

Sgt. Rock is set in World War II, which will make the entire back setting change up a lot if they decide to go along with this script change. I Am Legend director Francis Lawrence is expected to direct the film, if it jumps out of the bowels of development, with an estimated 2012 release date.
