Sean Penn in surfer biopic?

Academy Award winning actor, Sean Penn was reportedly going to take a year off from acting, but it seems that “break” is going to end a little early. According to Collider, the actor is already in talks to produce or star in a biopic on a legendary surfer. Not on Penn’s character, Jeff Spicoli from Fast Times at Ridgemont High, but on Dorian “Doc” Paskowitz.

The project is being produced by Alan and Gabe Polsky with the script being written by Paul Feldsher. The story will focus on Paskowitz going from medical practitioner to a surfing icon. Producers Matt Weaver and Graydon Carter have tried for years to secure the rights for a story on the eighty-nine year old surfer. Paskowitz’s family didn’t give their blessing until the Polsky brothers attached Penn to the project.

This isn’t the first surfur biopic Penn is attached to. The actor was rumored to be playing surfing mentor, Ricky “Frosty” Hesson in a biopic on Jay Moriarty. Penn is also attached to The Three Stooges, which is currently on delayed, and Cartel.
