SDCC ’10: Update on Underworld 4
There’s been no news regarding the status of Underworld 4. It has been rumored since the release of Underworld: Rise of the Lycans back in early 2009 and also a rumored television was to be in the works. The studio was last reported trying to convince Kate Beckinsale to return, but the actress wanted to spend time with her family. At Comic-con (via IGN), Len Wiseman, who created the series gives a quick update on the status of the film:
“It’s all being written and talked about and hopefully all comes together. So we’re seeing how things happen. But we’re all keeping our fingers crossed,” Wisman stated. The plan was to have this film take place after the events of Underworld Evolution, but there’s no word if Wisman is still going in that direction. Wiseman directed the first two films, but only produced the previous entry.
Kate Beckinsale also didn’t star in Underworld: Rise of the Lycans, but her character did appear through the use of stock footage from Underworld. Wiseman is hoping that Beckinsale can be convinced to return in the film. “Yes. That’s the plan. We’re both waiting to see what kind of story comes together. It’s just getting the script to a certain place where we’re both happy with it,” Wiseman said. There was no word if he still plans to release the film in 3-D, but it’s very likely.
