SDCC ’10: Super 8 filming in September

Submitted by Matt Keith on July 22, 2010 – 8:33 pmNo Comment

Back in May, J.J. Abrams gave us our first look at the mysterious project, Super 8 with a teaser trailer in front of Iron Man 2. Since then, Abrams has been notoriously secretive about the project. The only bit of information that has been revealed is that, despite speculation, it won’t have anything to do with 2008′s Cloverfield. At Comic-con (via Collider), Abrams was able to provide small bit of information on the project.

While he wouldn’t give away details on the film’s story, Abrams did reveal that production will begin this September. No casting is in place, but Abrams is looking towards casting unknowns. Oh, and it won’t be in 3-D, which got a cheer from the audience.

Abrams has yet to be convinced of watching 3-D. He found that after a while you get used to it, but for the first few minutes, it lessens the experience. He does believe as the format improves 3-D may be here to stay.
