Screen Gems pushes back Straw Dogs
The upcoming remake of the 1971 Sam Peckinpah film Straw Dogs is being tossed around the release date spectrum thanks to Screen Gems. Now, instead of taking on it’s original February 25th, 2011 release, the Rod Lurie film is getting pushed back over to September 16th, 2011, says Dread Central.
The original starred Dustin Hoffman as a young American and his English wife who come to rural England and face increasingly vicious local harassment. However, in this version the main characters are thrown into a some what different backdrop as James Marsden stars as a L.A. screenwriter David Sumner who relocates with his wife to her hometown in the deep South. There, while tensions build between them, a brewing conflict with locals becomes a threat to them both. The feature also stars Kate Bosworth in the picture penned by Lurie along with David Zelag Goodman.
