Scorsese confirmed for Hugo Cabret

Acclaimed director Martin Scorsese has a lot on his plate, several projects to be exact. We were hinted at the possibility of Scorsese taking on the novel adaptation of The Invention of Hugo Cabret as his next project, but with several others like the Frank Sinatra biopic and The Rise of Theodore Roosevelt on his back burner it was hard to predict what would be next. Now Variety confirms that the Shutter Island director will be in fact taking on the novel adaptation of the children’s book written by Brian Selznick.

Scorsese will be teaming up once more with Graham King who has served as producer on several of his features. Penning the adaptation will be scribe John Logan, who has several projects he’s starting up that include the big screen version of the popular video game Bioshock. The story centers on a 12-year-old orphan named Hugo, who lives in a train station and must finish what his late father started by solving the mystery of a broken robot. Since King is attached to produce, the feature will be under GK Films with a June start date for initial filming in London.
